This book is based on a bower constructed and decorated by a male Satin Bowerbird (Ptilinorhynchus violaceus). When the female birds visited the bower I witnessed much cavorting, wee-oo-ing, coo-ing, goo-ing, gurgling and trilling. On one occasion my bic biro found its own place in the assemblage of twigs, broken fragments of blue plastic and other detritus.
